He found his sport on a search engine.
At 26, Dan was working a desk job as a landscape architect when he searched for an Olympic sport an adult could still learn. He found skeleton: head-first, on a sled, at highway speed.
He trained for two years without telling anyone except his brother. He came up through the U.S. development team, the North American and Intercontinental Cups and the World Cup. In 2026 he raced for the United States at the Winter Games and finished 10th in the debut mixed team event.
He still works full time as a landscape architect, hourly with no paid time off, so every race is paid for out of his own pocket. Next stop: France, 2030.
